We get asked this questions all the
time. Old Catholic priests have
many liturgical options available to
them.
There is an Old Catholic Rite
that was published 100 years ago. It
is very similar to the Tridentine
Rite, but is translated into
English.
Some Old Catholic Priest say the
Tridentine Rite in Latin, and some
say what is known as the Novus Ordo,
which is the common Roman Catholic
Mass that was approved after the
Second Vatican Council. It is the
Mass you would experience at any
Roman Catholic parish today.
Still others celebrate Mass from
the Book of Common Prayer, which is
the liturgy used by the Episcopal
Church and the Worldwide Anglican
Communion.
There are other rites in use as
well. It really depends on the
priest and his faith community and
what they are comfortable. Prayer,
any prayer, is pleasing to God, so
we don't greatly restrict what Mass
is said!
